3rd Essay Writing & Presentation Competition
Submit an essay AND presentation slides to compete for this years prize!
Prizes are as follows:
Champion: HKD $1000
Runner-up: HKD $700
Winners will be awarded prize money and a certificate.
Overview
The competition is open to Primary 4 students and above.
Participants will be judged on two equally weighted components:
(a) written essay (50%) &
(b) presentation slides (50%)

The competition this year aims to assess the participants' comprehension, writing skills, and their ability to present their ideas effectively.
Submission deadline:

Topics
Primary 4 to Form 3 Students

Write about a Sikh from history or modern times who inspires you.

Write about one Sikh concept that you think can solve a global issue.

Form 4 Students and Above
​​​

Write about challenge(s) you have faced in your practice of Sikhi that are unique to the modern era.

Write about a lesson you learnt or are learning from Gurbani.​
Format:
Part 1: Essay
P.4-F.3 Students
Font: Times New Roman
Spacing: 1.5 pt line spacing
Citation: No citation requirement
Word limit: 800 - 1000 words
F.4 Students and Above
Font: Times New Roman
Spacing: 1.5 pt line spacing
Citation: APA citation style
Word limit: 2,500 - 3000 words
Part 2: Presentation Slides

Create a presentation slide to complement your written essay.​

Slides should clearly convey the key points of your essay.

Presentation time limits:
-
P4 to F3: 4 – 6 minutes​​

F4 and above: 6 – 8 minutes
​
Q&A Session:
-
Participants must answer follow-up questions from judges to demonstrate comprehension and understanding of their chosen topic.
Competition guidelines:
1. Choose 1 topic mentioned above in your age group to write about.

2. Follow the corresponding format and word limit for the essay & time limit for the presentation slides.
​
3. Essay & Presentation file to be submitted should be in PDF form and should follow this naming format:
"Full name_age group_topic question no_essay" (for the written essay), and
"Full name_age group_topic question no_slides" (for the presentation slide)

For example:
If topic 1 is chosen from the P.4-F.3 group, file name would be
"Fullname_P4to F3_1_essay"
"Fullname_P4toF3_1_slides"
